Spring is the season for new beginnings and fresh starts. For many, spring cleaning is not only an annual tradition, but rather an essential rite of passage into the new season. We spring clean our lives and living spaces, but how many of us spring clean our teeth?

We here at Plancich Dental would like to share three tips to help you refresh your oral hygiene routine and spring clean your teeth this season.

1. Replace your toothbrush

Take a moment to consider how you’ve had your current toothbrush. Was there holiday music playing on the radio and a tree in your living room at the time? According to the American Dental Association, you should change out your toothbrush every 3-4 months. When bristles are frayed or worn out, they aren’t able to clean teeth as effectively. So if you’ve had your toothbrush since winter, we highly recommend getting a brand new one for the new season.

2. Restock on supplies

As you organize and take inventory of your cleaning supplies this spring, don’t forget to replenish your oral cleaning supplies as well. Items such as floss, mouthwash, and toothbrushes are great to have stocked up for guests or travelling. Consider purchasing extra floss or a toothbrush to leave in your purse or vehicle in case of emergencies.

3. Schedule a professional teeth cleaning

Be sure to add a trip to Tacoma’s Plancich Dental on your list of to-dos! Just like how our homes need a deep scrub, we recommend coming in for a professional teeth cleaning at least twice a year. This season is a great time to schedule an appointment since we’re already in cleaning mode. What better way to prepare for a spring break vacation than with a healthy, pearly smile?

To schedule an appointment with us at Plancich Dental for your teeth spring cleaning or any other dental care needs, please call our offices at (253) 272-7400. We look forward to seeing you!
